What to do when you feel lost and anxious

The alarm goes off at 6:00 AM, and before your feet even touch the floor, the mental checklist begins. There’s the commute, the mounting pressure at work, the unspoken tension at home, and the nagging feeling that you’re falling behind. In North America, we are experts at staying busy, but we are often novices at finding peace. You might be sitting in your car in a parking lot, or perhaps at your kitchen table, feeling that familiar knot of anxiety tightening in your chest. You wonder, *'Where is this all going? Am I doing this right?'*

In John 14, Jesus speaks to his disciples, who were also facing a moment of profound uncertainty. They were about to lose their leader, their security, and their sense of direction. Jesus didn’t offer them a roadmap or a five-year plan. Instead, he offered them a person.

He said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me." He then speaks of his Father’s house, describing it as a place with many rooms—a "dwelling place" (μονή, monē).

We often think of this passage as only about the afterlife, but it speaks directly to our current anxiety. A *monē* is not just a destination; it is a place of belonging. Jesus is telling you that you are not a drifter in a chaotic universe. Your life has a home. Because he is the way, the truth, and the life, your current struggle is not a dead-end street. It is a path that he is walking with you.

For many of us, especially in the cross-cultural tension of immigrant families or the high-pressure environment of modern cities, we feel like we are constantly trying to prove our worth. We think we have to find the 'way' ourselves. But Jesus says, *I am the way.* You don't have to manufacture your own peace or solve every future problem today. You are held by the one who has already prepared a place for you.

Today’s takeaway: You don’t need to know every step of the path; you only need to know the one who is walking it with you.
